Gizmo

My dog-child, Gizmo, passed away on Feb. 8th, 2008. She was hit by a car and fortunately, died instantly. I was at my mom’s in Louisville and my sister came and told me about it. I just about lost it, Gizmo was my baby, my sweet little doggie, and I loved her like a child. I still miss her so much and cry often. She was 5 years old and I got her when she was a baby small enough to fit in the front pocket of my overalls…she was just a huge part of my life, and I will love and miss her always. I had her cremated and have a keepsake pendant with some of her remains, so that she can always be close to me. Yesterday, on June 4th, one of the neighborhood dogs, Trigger Lacey Daisy Beagle Dog, was hit and killed by a car also. Trigger Lacey Daisy Beagle Dog taught Gizmo how to hunt rabbits…she would go into the field and wait for Gizmo to catch up to her then go on again. I like to think that now Gizmo and Lacey are running the fields, hunting their rabbits again, together and happy. |

You bet the two are running rabbits all over the place now, just for fun, not to kill them. The rabbits also enjoy being chased like it's a game for everybody. I believe that they all come back home with their beloved person when they get tired out. I am sure you can find they give you different signs that they are around that only you know and understand. |

I read your account of losing Gizmo & felt compelled to write. I hate to think of you crying all the time. I lost my Emma in April. I was fortunate enough to have her with me for almost 15 years. I found great comfort in a book that I have been recommending to lots of pet owners & have gotten wonderful feedback on. It's called 'Animals in Spirit' by Penelope Smith. It has a chapter in it about losing pets to accidents & coming to terms with it. Maybe it could help & if not I hope you are getting support at home or one of the many support groups for animal lovers who are grieving the loss of their pet! I know Gizmo & Emma are up there having a blast, chasing rabbits, rolling in the grass & soaking up the sunshine! Best wishes to you. |
