Critter Haven
508 Views | 7 Comments | | Happy Tails | |
When people state they are animal lovers it's usually based on personal experiences with dogs and cats. We have a slightly different tail to tell.
Several years ago we relocated from the San Francisco Bay area to a remote 35-acre property in central California's beautiful Sierra Mountains 40 miles east of Fresno. Within a short period of time we began accumulating animals and birds that we either unwanted, distressed, or rare in kind resulting in our naming the ranch Critter Haven. Our current critter family consists of yaks, emus, geese, ducks, pygmy goats, dogs, cats, and a donkey named Pete. Caring for critters of all kinds is truly a heart warming, magical experience. It's amazing to watch them intermingle and every day some activity of theirs brings a smile to my face. With oodles of stories both cheerful and saddening, I've begun to write a book about the wonders of ranching in the wilderness. To give you some insight into our lifestyle, feel free to visit our personal website at www.netptc.net/yaks. |

Good for you!! I can relate to the name of your place. I was in animal rescue for over 10 years, and accumulated a bevy of cats and dogs. Currently (with attrition) I have 10 cats and 3 dogs.
For years I have called my place "The Ray Zoo" Of course Ray is my last name and I use this in my email addy also.
Best to you good people!!! |

What a blessing for the critters and you, that you found each other! All animals should be so lucky; if I had the resources, I'd have my own 'zoo,' too... |
