Cindy (Williams) Alvey has been involved in the local rescue community since adopting her dog, Cody from the DC Animal Shelter in 1996. Since that time, 4 cats: Silver, Puma, Sam and Frankie, have joined the family.
In 2004, she started an online pet supply company called Pet Pantry Express and in the summer of 2006, joined forces with Sue Bell, Executive Director of Homeward Trails Animal Rescue to open PetMAC – the Marketplace and Adoption Center.
PetMAC only sells all-natural foods with no chemical preservatives or animal by-products, as well as treats, toys, collars/leashes, beds -- even home-baked treats and doggy ice cream! PetMAC hosts educational seminars, fun social events and donates a portion of PetMAC’s profits to Homeward Trails and other local animal rescue groups. | |

So, you've got a walkway full of ice. The kind you chip away at but doesn't seem to budge. You throw some salt down and take the dog for a walk. Is your salt safe for your dog to walk in? Most salts aren't....

Have you heard about the newest rage in doggy chews? Sweet Potatoes! I thought it was kind of crazy when one of our PetMAC customers told me about them, but I brought them in the shop and they have been selling like hotcakes!
One brand I really like is Sam's Yams. It's a small company based in Nevada and their customer service is excellent. The chews are simply dried sweet potatoes - that's it. Nothing

It's that time of year again....what to get for Uncle George? Would Grams prefer a pink or peach sweater? Where do you find that thing-a-mig that little Bobby just can't live without? Well, what about the animals? Yes, I know... you've already gotten a stocking for Buster and some cute toys for Whiskers, but what about all the animals out there who don't HAVE families to love them? What's going to happen to them over the holidays and during the cold months to follow?

Who needs Santa Claus when Santa Paws is here?!! Yep, Santa even remembers our furry friends during the holiday season! Just search the web and you'll find lots of places around the area offering "Photos with Santa" for dogs, and some even for cats! PetMAC's Santa photo sessions were so popular last year that we decided to add a special time for kitties to come visit Santa, away from the barking dogs!

It’s that haunting time of year again! The time when cute Golden Retrievers turn into glowing skeletons, Dachshunds become Hot Dogs complete with ketchup or mustard, and cats don witch’s hats (well, for about 30 seconds, if you’re lucky!)
Why do we like to torture our animals so much by dressing them up so everyone will laugh and giggle at how cute they are? ‘Cause it&

'i believe in dog' is a unique line of gifts and wearables just for dog lovers! ‘i believe in dog’ has a great variety of products such as trendy baseball caps and t-shirts, dog leashes, stylish frames, an adorable locket/keychain, business card holders, car stickers and even a compact flashlight – perfect for those long dog walks in the darkness of winter evenings! The phrase ‘i believe in dog’ was coined by Claire Liston to communicate with others who share her love of domestic dogs. Liston, who has spent many years rescuing and rehabilitating dogs in the Washington DC area, started this ongoing fundraiser to support dog rescue groups financially after a back injury left her less able to help physically. “The human-dog connection is unique, a tradition older than history itself, and one that is commo ...
