If Your Pet Could Talk

How would your pets describe you?
Like that old adage goes, "Let me be half the person my dog thinks I am." I feel a great deal of responsibility for their welfare and am kind, caring and patient for them and for other humans, too. Have recovered from the broken heart of losing my spouse to cancer in 2004 and am moving ahead with what life will present to me next. Have learned to be happy again and enjoy many simple pleasures, like reading a spell-binding book, trying to plant something the deer won't gobble up, or enjoying the sunset view over the mountains from our deck. They'd also say I was a good mom not only to them, but to the one daughter I have, who is married and living on Martha's Vineyard, MA with her husband and step daughter. My girl, Robin, is a seacaptain, a painter and a woodcarver.

What would your pets say was the first thing they noticed about you?
I go out of my way to make others comfortable and am a very loyal and truthful woman with a kind heart. For someone about 450 years old in dog years, I'm doing pretty doggone well and continue to work on self-improvement. They noticed I love to sing and dance and they don't mind that I don't do either particularly well. With them, its the enthusiam that counts.

What would your pets say is the coolest or funniest thing about you?
They say I have a great sense of humor and seem to enjoy laughing at them and at myself. They both think its cool that I relocated to a Virginia mountaintop log house from a waterfront home in St. Petersburg, FL. They say they like that I frequently think outside the box and enjoy learning about opinions that differ from mine and enjoy the company of many different types of people. That I'm not too stuck in my ways to appreciate spontanious adventure and travel--whether it is a walk down our steep mountain road, a quick trip to the nearby mountains, to the shore, or half way around the world.

What else would your pets tell us about you? Hobbies, interests, ideal match, etc?
The cat and dog know I would love to be in love again. That is a wonderful state not to be entered into lightly. My ideal man would share certain core values with me--monogamy, no interest in arguing or "keeping score" or being petty and sulking. Hopefully, he would be as financially secure as I am and not interested in me for material things (as I would feel about him). Hopefully he would have hobbies and interests of his own and some he would like to share with me. I have no desire to "change" a man or have him want to change or control me. (Of course, that means he is honest and upfront about who he is from the beginning.) I'm an avid art quilter. Have taught this type of artistic expression for about 15 years--once under a Nat'l Endowment for the Arts grant for children considered at risk. That was an awesome experience--wonderful to give back to the community in such a way.
