| Steve’s Story
I have always found the Washington Metropolitan area to be a very difficult town to meet people that were interested in more than superficial relationships. When it comes to dating, quite frankly, despite all the people here it is a hard town to find people that are compatible with your interests.
I have always thought of internet dating as another tool that is out there for people like me who have a long daily commute, work a lot of hours and just do not seem to meet that special someone in the local grocery store aisle (does that really work?).
The last few years I have put my profile on a number of different sites since there seemed to be an endless supply that cater to this and that. Then one day I saw this new site mentioned in HSUS Animal Shelter’s magazine called Animal Attraction. Finally, a site that matches people who care about what I care most about in life – our four legged souls that make our lives bright.
Throughout my years working in the animal protection field, I always found “animal people” to be the only ones to truly understand the bond that is so important between the two-legged and four-legged worlds. If ever I was to be fortunate enough to enter into a long-term relationship again, it would be with someone who understands how much animals mean to me and the priority they set in my life.
I corresponded with several nice people on this site and even went out a few times, but then I got a message from Stephanie. As the cold days of January moved in I had finally found that special someone who loves animals and warmed my heart. I have grown cautious over time (yes, been at this dating thing on and off for awhile) about relationships really developing, but we just seemed to click. We have been together for over six months now and the future of our relationship looks bright. My four-legged “kids” (Mr. Jake and Mr. Tee) love her and so do I.
Stephanie’s Story
I have been “in dogs” for about as long as I have been able to hold a leash. I showed in Junior Handling as a child, conformation, obedience, agility, freestyle and Rally-O and I have taught obedience classes for over twenty years.
While I have owned many breeds of dogs in my life, the one missing part of my life has been a relationship with someone that understands the connection I have with my dogs. I have searched for many years for someone that would understand when one of my dogs needed me and not play games about “who comes first.” One day I came across an article in Ladies Home Journal about the Animal Attraction website. A few days later while shopping in a local pet store a number of people were discussing the same article. When I reached the aisle where the product I needed was located, yet another customer was discussing the same article and website. I thought perhaps I should check out this site, and I am ever so grateful I did.
When I signed up at the site it was very difficult for me to convey my relationship with my dogs. Sure I have done a lot of showing and training, but that is not the real relationship I wanted to convey. Nevertheless, I put together a profile and submitted a really sad photograph. The only photo I had of me with one of my dogs was taken less than an hour before Buddy went to the Bridge. I intended to find a better photo, but just could not seem to find the opportunity.
Fortunately, Steve saw past the photo and responded to my message. From the minute I met Steve I knew his heart was where it should be. Steve’s heart and soul is his love of animals, particularly Jake and Tee, and now my kids TeaTime, Travis, Kiri and Toby. Anyone who can get past the exuberance of a five month old puppy is one very special person.
The love we share for animals was the common bond that brought us together. The love I have for Steve, and for Jake and Tee, will only grow stronger every day.
Thanks Animal Attraction.com for providing the door for us to open and enter a new life together.
