We met our Cheyenne, who is 9 yrs old now, when she was a puppy. Every Sunday we would go to a Circle-K convenience store to get the Sunday paper. We always took our 3 fur kids with us for a ride. This one Sunday we drove up in the parking lot of the store. As soon as we parked a puppy came running up to the van. She was a beautiful German Shepherd puppy. You could see she was a Purebred. I went into the store and asked inside who the puppy belonged to. The clerk in the store said she had been there at the store for 3 days. And she said her boss was going to call the animal shelter to come get the puppy. The clerk said no one claimed her. I told the clerk that I would take her home. i told her I would find her a home. I did, ours. I told my husband I was going to keep her. He wasn't happy at first because we had the 3 others and we were renting. I did check the lost and found and called the animal shelter to see if somebody lost her.The clerk at the store had a notice up in the window of the store. So nobody ever called us so we kept her. I thought she was an older puppy because she was big. but when I took her to our vet for shots and a checkup, she said she was a lot younger than I thought. And that she was going to be a very big dog. She said she looked like she was purebred. She is very big boned. She weighs around 100 lbs. She is still beautiful. She favors males. So she loves to be with our son and my husband. My husband has a good buddy. Now he's glad we kept her.

"Tigger " and my best friend "Bob".

Tigger was a beautiful three year old stray tabby cat with white markings and a little orange smudge on his nose. After asking the neighbors who he belonged to; it turned out that Tigger's owners had moved away and left him to fend for himself. I bought cat food and started feeding him. It wasn't long before he moved in with me and became my devoted feline companion for over 13 years.

Tigger was a wonderful cat. He was so gentle and loving to everyone. He would wait in the window for me to come home every day and then greeted me at the door to go out for his evening stroll. I had a dear friend named Bob who had been a paraplegic and in a wheelchair since the age of 14. Bob was the greatest friend and the most wonderful person I have ever known. Somehow Tigger knew that; and sensed Bob's condition. When Tigger first met Bob he immediately went to him and jumped onto his lap showing him tremendous love and affection. From then on he did that every time Bob came to my house. The two became very bonded.

As Tigger grew older he developed feline diabetes and I faithfully gave him insulin shots every night and morning. He recovered. Six months later he went back into his diabetic condition again. After a few months of insulin; his pancreas began to fail. My 18 pound gentle giant gradually lost weight until he was only 8 lbs; and I had to make the ultimate decision to let my baby go. He died in my arms one late August Morning in 2004 and the last words he ever heard from me was that I loved him.

And then on June 5th 2006 on a beautiful spring day almost two years later when the apple blossoms were in bloom; I also lost my very best friend Bob. He was only 58 years old and I was also with him when he passed away. Now my Bob is in heaven with Tigger and they are both there waiting for me.

Somewhere among my photos I have a picture of Tigger sitting on Bob's lap riding with him in his wheelchair. It is a most touching picture.

I am very blessed to have had them both in my life. They are both still here with me in my heart and will never be forgotten.

I found my kitty (Topaz) on the street, when she was just two weeks old. Severely emaciated and dehydrated, with a severe eye infection. Now, she is 6 months old and to me she is the most beautiful kitty in the world. Funny thing is that she is a black cat and I found her on Holloween! My dog loved her the minute he saw her, they're the best of friends. I'm glad she's a part of our lives.

i'm not very good at this, but here we go..

it was valentines day, outside it was cold, freezing rain. I was feeling kinda lonely and my husky hadn't been out for a ride in weeks. I decided we'd go to the store, get some clam soup, and come home and watch all the love movies on tv.  the day, the weather and my mood all fit. so I pulled up next to a pick up truck with a sign in the back "free puppies" I knew I was in trouble.lol The man ask if I wanted a lab pup, he held a yellow ball of fur in his hands. I told him I neededt o go in the store for some things and if he was here when I got back I'd take the pup. now in the back of my mind I was hoping someone else would come by and take the dog. you see I was just getting on my feet and I really wasn't ready for another dog. I also wanted my next dog to be a husky. ande to top it off I didn't know how my other dog (my baby) would feel about another dog in the house. so i went inside bought my food and a bag of puppy food and went back to my car. The man was in the truck with the heat on, while this pup(no older than 5wks) was in the back all by herself. she was freezing and scared.  He stepped out of his truck and I said,"I'll take her!" how could I not! she smelled, was dirty, and had worms...but was the cutest thing ever. I spent the rest of my day cleaning her and allowing my husky  to get to know her. well four years later and they are the best of friends. I believe everything happens for a reason. This lab has given me more love, she has taught me about love, the unconditional kind. I've often said that if i jumped off a bridge my lab would follow while my husky would watch us fall. (and wander who'd feed him later). don't get me wrong, my husky is still my baby...but my lab, she's my shadow. my valentine:)

I came home one night and when I got out of the car I heard this long pittiful cry. I tried to find out where it was coming from but couldn't find it. For the next few days whenever I would go out at night I heard the same cry. Finally I got determined enough that I was gioing to find the source of the cry. I looked and looked after awhile I was ready to give up and then this little kitten came running down this driveway.  I called for it but every time I tried to catch it, it would run. I told her that I was tired of chasing her and only trying to help and I was going home. When I stared back home I looked behind me and she was chasing after me. I got home but she wouldn't come in so I brought out a small bowl of milk and set it down. Every time she would take a drink I would move the bowl until I got it up on the porch. I proped my door open and went in sat down. After about 10 min. I saw this little head peek in. I waited and watched finally she bolted into the house behind the speaker.  After awhile I caught her, she was so small, dirty and full of fleas. I bathed her and took her to the vet the next day. My vet said she was only a few weeks old. I took her home and named her Pawley because when you held her she would take her front paws and pet your face with them so the name fit. I wasn't to sure how my other "baby" Taz my pug would feel about her but they got along OK.  Pawley was with me for 6 wonderful years. One day I noticed Pawley was looking thin. I took her the vet. They did not know what was wrong and everything we tried she just kept losing weight and got weaker. One morning I got out of bed and went downstairs and found Pawley in  Taz's dog bed. She had passed sometime during the night. I just sat on the floor and held her and cried. We took her to moms and buried her out back with all the other friends we have had over the years. It's been about 5 years know. I still go and visit her. Some people may think that's weird but visiting her makes me feel better and close to her.

One Saturday we had just come home from having breakfast with some friends. As we got out of the car  and walked towards the house I heard a faint meow. At that time we didn't have any cats. I asked my husband if he heard the meow. He said he didn't hear anything. So we went into the house. I still wasn't satisfied. So a little later i went outside and walked out towards the street. that street had a lot of traffic. It was a 4 lane and parking on both sides. As i walked towards the street, I heard a kitten crying. But I couldn't determine where it was coming from. I started across the street the meows got louder . There was a car parked across the street . As I got closer to the car the cries got louder. I looked under the car. There was a cute little tiger striped kitten, about 6 wks old. As soon as he saw me he really started yowling. I got him out from under the car. I took him home. But I didn't know if I could keep him, i had 2 Dobies and 2 smaller dogs. i didn't know if they would hurt him. We had never had cats around them, I didn't hve to worry though, our dogs were good with him. I named him Tommy. He was with us until we had to move out of state. Then he went to live with our daughter. He was with her until he died. I had to work at that time and worked at night too. So I couldn't be with him a lot . But he was a good cat. Then about aweek later a friend of mine was at a school down the street and went outside to go home. She walked out with her teacher. They heard a cat crying. they looked under the teacher's car. They found a little black kitten. She called me to see if I wanted him. She already had 3 cats. I told her i would take him for a playmate for Tommy. So that is how I ended up with Blacky. Then a week later our son was acrossthe street at the bus stop. He found a little black kitten. He brought it home and said my Blacky had gotten out and got over across the street. I told him Blacky was in the other room. So we ended up with Missy. So we became a 3 cat family. We figured they were all from the same litter, because they were all the same age. But I'm so surprised they weren't run over. They were meant to be in our family.

I was on PetFinder and noticed a thin Rhodesian Ridgeback needing a home. My husband had said no more pets but once he saw Rusty he was in love too. We emailed the shelter immediately to let them know we wanted him.We drove 2 hours in the rain to get our new fur baby. He was so sad and thin. He had been abandoned at the shelter a few weeks earlier.

We led him to the car and he was so scared he started balking at the thought of getting in the car. My husband got on the other side and pulled him into the back seat as I pushed from behind. I think he had literally been dumped and was scared of that happening again.

We took him home and instantly he fit right in. He's a big, lovable softie. He just can't get close enough to you. He weighs about 30 pounds more than he did when we got him but he still thinks he's a lap dog.

Now Rusty has a huge yard and plenty of friends to play with. He loves to go for walks around town and is a favorite with the kids.

I met DeeZee when I was working at the animal shelter here in Nevada. I was recovering from a broken foot, so they put at a desk job instead of in the kennels. Because of this I didn't get to see many of the dogs brought in. One day my husband came to my job to bring me lunch. I had to bring a kennel card to the "puppy room" for a dog back there. As we made our way down the row of cages my husband stopped me dead in my tracks. In the cage was the sweetest little Chihuahua. I wrote her ID number down and went back to my computer. I found out she was on a Ten-Day Hold, as her owner had been picked up for drugs and was in jail. From that point on I made sure to bring her treats, a soft warm blanket, and give her plenty of attention. After the 10 day period was up, the owner still hadn't claimed her so I asked the shelter manager if I could adopt her. Although all animals must be offered to the public for 3 days, my manager said yes as she knew this baby would have a wonderful home. The head of adoptions tried to stop me from adopting this little girl, but the manager over rode her decesion. So DeeZee came home with me. That was 2 years ago, and since then she has become an important member of our family. Her two older Chihuahua sisters love her. All 3 babies cuddle up in the bed with us at night. DeeZee is the funniest, most loving baby you could ever want. We love her and am so glad she came into our lives.

(((Hugs to you & Tiki))) - I just love this story!!!

This is so heartwarming and says so much about animals. It is absolutely wonderful that you can go outside now and walk with your little dog.

She is indeed a dear little Angel and was meant to be in your life to help you and be your devoted companion.

Bless you both; Sharon; Danny & Pepe...>^..^<
