My pug mix, Milo, has had an increasingly bad dry nose for a while now.  It's only 1 side/1 nostril and appears to be worse in the summer so it may be a type of allergy.  My vet said to find and then apply any product I could find containing Propylene Glycol.  The only product I could find at Walgreens with this ingredient was Warming Lubricant.  Although it's weird to applying warming lube on my dogs nose, I have done it faithfully.  The problem is that the nose is getting worse and is cracking.  Does anyone have any suggestions for my poor little guys nose? Please help!

I may try a specialist for the dog. I like to uae salmon oil in the food. Sometimes the topical stuff just gets licked off.

Good point on the licking it off Frank. Although my suggestion is a topical thing too - what about Bag Balm? Probably available at Walgreens too.

I do have to laugh at the Warming Lubricant treatment, at lease Milo may feel satisfied in the process - lol.

It could be your dogs feeding/water dishes..If they're plastic, get rid of them.  They carry bacteria that mess up your dogs nose.  My old dog Noah had the same problem.  Ceramic or metal bowls are the best.

Thanks to all of you for replying to my plea. I did go out yesterday and buy salmon oil to put in Milo's food. He got his first dose last night and seem to like it...... although he IS a little piggy and would probably eat anything I put in front of him. I think I will also search out the Bag Balm......sounds like a nice alternative to the warming lube. The dog bowl issue is also an interesting point. Thanks again! -kym

Just wanted to update everyone on Milos progress. I added the Salmon oil to his food and that seems to be going well.... he actually likes it! I also researched the Bag Balm online and found that they carry it at my local Tractor Supply store so my husband and I went to buy it. We actually found it in the section for chapped cows udders....weird huh? Anyways.... we got looking at the different labels for other products and actually ended up buying UDDER BALM, which is full of oils and vitamins and aloe. I have been using it every night and am pleased to say that my little mans nose LOOKS FABULOUS!!! What a great source animal attraction has turned out to be. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE!!!
