I am hoping that many of you will sign this petition and also write letters to the Mayor of Seoul and the President of Korea to take dogs off the "livestock" list.  These dogs that deemed for the table are hung and boiled alive.

There is a website that you can visit to find more detail on this gruesome issue!

Another great group trying to save dogs and cats in Taiwan is:

Not sure if you realize this or not, but licenced dog breeders in the USA that have more than 3 intact females have to be registered with the USDA, and are controlled by the exact same enforcement as our "livestock"!

Not that I like it, but yes, some cultures still consume dogs and cats. It is a food staple to them, and they do not regard dogs and cats the same way Americans do.

Unfortunately that is just the licensed breeders - there are many more backyard breeders. I have yet to go into someone's home who breeds animals where the animals are happy. The females live their lives out in cages. That is not always the case, but in 25 years of rescue, I've yet to come across what I would call a good breeder. With the overpopulation in the US, 800 animals being to put to sleep every hour in the United States, it amazes me that people claim they love animals who breed them.

Newfs!

What I should of explained was that by Korea deeming dogs as livestock legalizes dogs to be eaten.  Korea is the first country in the world that has legalizing dogs to be eaten for human consumption.  Though many cultures have eaten dogs and still do, Korea is the first to legalize it.

If you would like more information on this, please visit the site I posted to sign the petition, there is another site that will explain it all, along with addresses to write to the President of Korea and the Mayor of Seoul requesting them to rescind their decision.
