I've been reading through this section and it's so comforting to see how much others love and miss their furry companions.  You don't feel so alone ya know?

I lost my best friend to cancer in February and I miss him every day.  He had been limping for about a month and it wasn't getting better.  I took him to the vet and was shocked when they showed me an xray of a huge tumor in his front leg.  My heart just sank....  The only option they gave me was to amputate his front leg - but that would only remove the source of pain and give him maybe one more year to live.  And because he was 10 years old they weren't sure if he'd even get an extra year . I tossed and turned over what to do for days and after talking to a trusted vetrinarian friend made the decision to have him put down with his dignity.  It was by far the hardest day i've ever had to endure so far in my life...  I loved my Jonsee like he was my own flesh and blood.  He will never be forgotten...

I couldn't handle the silence of walking into an empty house so I adopted 2 more dogs right away.  They've brought me so much joy during a time when all I want to do is crawl in bed and cry.  I know with time i'll love them just as much as I loved Jonsee.

Big cyber hugs to all of you out there who have lost your fur babies.

I lost my german shepherd onyx to tonsil cancer last October so I sure do understand!   I have a new little girl now and she wont ever replace my Onyx but she sure brings sunshine and laughter back into the house.  Hugs!  Susan (Zima)

Sorry to hearr about your loss. I lost my Missy to lymphoma a little over a month ago. We got another dog before too long, too, because we couldn't stand the emptiness of the house, but I still think of her and miss her every day. My new boy is a shelter rescue.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my Cleo on October 26,2007.  She was 10 years 10 mo old.  It is so hard to get over her passing.  We to had to make that dreaded decision.  Cleo was at red bank veterinary clinic scheduled for surgery the day she passed.  She developed a fever and infection again the day of her surgery and antibiotics weren't helping her.  I called our vet and after talking to him we knew we had to let her go. We drove to NJ to be with her because we didn't want her to be alone.  That was the longest 3 hour drive I have ever taken.  I prayed all the way there that she wouldn't leave us before we got there.  She did wait for us.  I gor one more kiss from her before she left us. She gave us so much joy and love.  I miss her so much.  She was the love of my life.  I found the most beautiful song to remember her by.  It's Good Bye My Friend by Linda Ronstandt.  The song has a lot to say.  Again my deepest sympathy to you on the loss of your dear fur baby.

You guys are making my eyes water!  My friends and family don't understand why i'm so upset over the loss of a "dog".  And why 4 months later i'm still crying...  It's just nice to know there are people out there who understand.

I"m so sorry for all of your losses.

I understand exactly what you are goin thru. Diablo also had cancer and it started with a tumor on his leg. But we did decide to amputate and I am not at all sorry that we did! Maybe we were selfish in doin so, but it gave us more time with him and I know he wasn't ready to go before.
My thoughts are with you all at this time as I know what you are going thru!!!!

I don't think it's selfish...it depends on the situation and the dog.  I can't tell you how many times i've looked back and wondered if I did the right thing or not.  I know in my heart I did but he may still be here right now if we had amputated...  It's a horrible decision to have to make.

I'm so sorry for your loss.    Time will eventually heal...  I looked at the pictures of your babies by the way, what beautiful animals!

We lost our Lemmy to Spleen cancer in February and it has been very painful.  I miss him every day!!  Luckily, we were both with him and he was not in much pain, I petted him until he was gone.

I think any animal lover would understand the loss of a loved one like this.  They have been with us for years with unconditional love and that is what makes it so hard.

Take care all of you, I will keep you in my thoughts.

I know just how you feel.  I lost my pitbull Lucy to cancer March 1.  She was my BFF and I still miss her so.  She was such a trooper battling the cancer, but it just kept skipping around all over inside, and we got to a point I thought she had been through enough.  You have to know you did the right thing.  Yeah, I could've put a tube in Lucy's stomach, but that would have been for me, not her.  We do our best and they know it.  Hang in there.  Do as I say and not how I do, as I am still miserable every day!

I know what it feels like to lose something so precious. I recently lost my dog badger in november of 07. I had just gotten home from working the night shift, it was a beautiful sunday morning. I knew for a while that badger was taking seizures but my vet said it was only a matter of time. I had her on medication but it only worked so much. That morning when i came home badger and i decided to go out so she could do her business, unfortunately she ended up taking a heartattack and died in my arms minutes later. To this day i miss her a great deal and i had her creamated so she will always be with me. I haven't gotten the strength yet to get a new dog, i feel that when the time is right i will. Please know that there are others out there who share in your pain. God Bless
