The Rockies are for sure one of my favorites. I live in Arizona so we have some really nice trails here as well. I actually live within a two minute walk from one of the popular hiking/ biking trails here in phoenix. My husband and I made sure that we found a house very close to the mountains so that we could basicly walk and ride our mountain bikes right out of our garage to the trail. I have done a climb on Mount Adams in Washington. If your ever thinking of traveling to AZ a good hike is Humphrey's up in Flagstaff. My husband and I plan on doing the four peaks pretty soon and maybe a trip to Alaska to do St. Elias.
Teaching art is somthing I have always wanted to do. I actually had finished my prerequisites to get into ASU for their Art Education program, but my husband decided he wanted to get into Med School. So I made the decision to put off my school to support him in his decision and told him I would be the full time worker while he was in school. We were both a nervous wreck while waiting to hear wether or not he was to be accepted in Medwestern University. After a long 6 weeks we got a letter stating he been accepted as one of the 236 out of 56,000 applicants. So I basically worked a full time job while he was in school and helped take care of our two kids. It was a long four years, but I am greatful for the decision he made because I was able to quit my job and stay at home with my kids and do what I love. I was thinking of returning back to school but my kids are so young right now and i need to be here for them to make sure I raise them with values and morals becuase i know the school system won't. So I will wait till they are older to go back to school and just enjoy my early retirment.
All of you sound so very gifted and talented. I wish you the best in all you do and that you continue to follow your heart and that life presents you with the opporitunity to be able to make your passion somthing full time.

Art is the desire of a man to express himself, to record the reactions of his personality to the world he lives in. ~Amy Lowell

We need to get Diane on AA sometime, I think one more margarita and it would be tonight. Dinner was wonderful but I am going to feel this in the morning. She was trying to model for the statue earlier but kept tipping over lol, I am not she was achieving the proper stance. One last song for the night..

Nibblin on sponge cake
Watchin the sun bake
All of those tourists covered with oil
Strummin my six-string
On my front porch swing
Smell those shrimp theyre beginnin to boil

Chorus:
Wastin away again in margaritaville
Searching for my lost shaker of salt
Some people claim that theres a woman to blame
But I know its nobodys fault

I dont know the reason
I stayed here all season
Nothin to show but this brand new tattoo
But its a real beauty
A mexican cutie
How it got here I havent a clue

Chorus:
Wastin away again in margaritaville
Searchin for my lost shaker of salt
Some people claim that theres a woman to blame
Now I think
Hell, it could be my fault

I blew out my flip-flop
Stepped on a pop-top
Cut my heel had to cruise on back home
But theres booze in the blender
And soon it will render
That frozen concoction that helps me hang on

Wastin away again in margaritaville
Searching for my lost shaker of salt
Some people claim that theres a woman to blame
But I know its my own damn fault
Yes and some people claim that theres a woman to blame
And I know its my own damn fault

LabCab,
I feel sometimes like I'm the only person here who can't even draw a stick figure! Kelly?? Julie?? I see it in my mind but can't get my hand to translate it. That talent went to my oldest sister and I greatly appreciate those who have the gift. I'm often awed by their abilities. As a lifelong musician I used to write music all the time. Alas, without a piano in my home, or handy at all, I haven't tried anything but lyrics in the last, ugh, do I admit it, 10 years. I have a feeling I will again though, some day. I think it's beautiful that you were so inspired by your husband. As everyone knows, matters of the heart are the major inspirations for some of the best music, lyrics, poetry, theater and film. It's no surprise that you felt so compelled by your special relationship with your husband to write something to commemorate it. I am very impressed with your talents! As far as my interest in literature, no one knows this but my mother was a librarian for almost 25 years and my father is a civil war buff. I had the opportunity to read some great works in AP English in high school and it stuck with me. There was always a lot of reading going on in my house even when I'd rather be outside playing with friends. That Pizza Hut BookIt program kept me busy many a summer!

A favorite movie next to "Singles", I was listening to the "Reality Bites" soundtrack today. For some reason it really cures writer's block. Go figure!

Shadows grow so long before my eyes
And they're moving across the page
Suddenly the day turns into night
Far away from the city.
But don't hesitate, cause your love won't wait
Ooh Baby I love your way
Wanna tell you I love your way
Wanna be with you night and day.
Moon appears to shine and light the sky
With the help of some firefly.
Wonder how they have the power to shine
Shine, shine, shine
I can see them under the pine.
But don't hesitate, cause your love won't wait
Ooh Baby I love your way
Wanna tell you I love your way
Wanna be with you night and day.
I can see the sunset in your eyes,
Brown and grey, and blue besides
Clouds are stalking islands in the sun.
I wish I could buy one, out of season
But don't hesitate, cause your love won't wait
Ooh Baby I love your way
Wanna tell you I love your way
Wanna be with you night and day.
--Big Mountain (sounds like UB40)

This song just makes me laugh!!!

He's a movie star
Only drives rented cars
Met him in a bar
I said I know who you are
Took him to my party as the games were starting
Bottle's on the ground, are you ready now?
When it comes to me
I'm gonna be ready
It's my turn in a minute
Gonna put my message in it
Five minutes in the closet with you
He's in a bunch of movies
Really stupid movies
It's not entirely his fault
You can't control it all
I am not afraid
I can hardly wait
Truth or dare I don't care
Tell the truth I dare you
When it comes around
Do you feel it too what I feel for you
If it was just us would you do what I'd die
doo doo doo doo
Everybody's watching
Everybody's looking
She is such a sucker
He don't want to......
He is gonna kiss me if he doesn't miss me
I'm ready for it now already on the ground
Five minutes in the closet with you
Oh, oh five minutes in the closet with you
Spin it round again
Spin it round again
Spin it round again
--The Juliana Hatfield 3

Sorry to cut out early Jen, I know a couple women who will not want to hear the word margarita for a week or so and will surely regret this evening tomorrow morning lol. I am trying to get them to drink lots of water and will catch you late tomorrow I hope.

Labcab it was great of you to support your husband and I hope one day you fulfill your dreams as well.
Jen I am not sure about Julie but Kelly can certainly draw. You have other talents Jen and as I am beginning to learn, you use your business to help some really good people. It is not all money for you, I notice those things. It is the same for me with some of my work. I know I will not volunteer to do a gratis design of dog park for a long long time.

Greg, good luck with those two, I am glad you did not drink and drive. I am sure the girls are in good hands.

I draw  a little Jennifer but I doubt I am on their level.

This morning I am just reminded of one song:

I come home in the morning light
My mother says when you gonna live your life right
Oh mother dear we're not the fortunate ones
And girls they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have fun

The phone rings in the middle of the night
My father yells what you gonna do with your life
Oh daddy dear you know you're still number one
But girls they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have -

That's all they really want
Some fun
When the working day is done
Girls - they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have fun

Some boys take a beautiful girl
And hide her away from the rest of the world
I want to be the one to walk in the sun
Oh girls they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have

That's all they really want
Some fun
When the working day is done
Girls - they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have fun,
They want to have fun,
They want to have fun....

Last night a couple girls who decided to have fun are certainly feeling the after effects lol. I was in my shop late so I kept hearing them as they got up in the night. It was my turn to play big brother and try to get them feeling better. This morning I will treat them to some tomato juice with lots of worsteshere sauce and a raw egg mixed in. I am not sure that will cure anything but it serves them right for over doing it lol.

Thanks for sharing about your self Labcab and Jen. I have talked early on about my background so I will not go into that again. I will mention my dad is a lawyer and my mom an economist but I never wanted to go into the law. Being around him though I learned a lot of things and can still ask both of them advice on some issues. I was fortunate to have much of my college paid for but there were strings attached and I am probably a better person for it. At the time you can resent being directed one way or the other but all in all I am grateful.

Ok ok I am not going to drink that much again. I am not sure which was worse, the headache or Greg's cure all for a hangover but neither was pleasant. I was able to work though, I am not so sure about being able to talk above a whisper or move around much but I was there.

Here is the song I am reminded of by Coldplay...

A Whisper lyrics
A whisper [x4]
A whisper [x4]
I hear the sound of a ticking of clocks
Remember your face, and remember see where you are gone
I hear the sound of the ticking of clocks
Come back and look for me, look for me when I am lost

Just a whisper, whisper, whisper, whisper [x2]

Night turns to day and I still have these questions
You just won't break, should I go forwards or backwards
Night turns to day and I've still got no answers

Just a whisper, whisper, whisper, whisper [x2]

Now I hear the sound of a ticking of clocks
Remember your face, and remember see where you are gone
I hear the sound of the ticking of clocks
Come back and look for me, look for me when I am lost

Just a whisper, whisper, whisper, whisper [x2]

He thinks I am insane

but in a loving way

that bids me welcome

tilted head most becoming

those twinkles are just not fair

and the inkiness of his hair

brings to mind endless fingers

rushing to touch that ear

while wishing I had the wit

to flirt like others do

I am too frank

though, not bold

I tremble to think what I would do

if he smiled that smile directly

instead of out the corner

of an ever winking eye

sigh

sigh

sigh

What a guy!!

I hope you are feeling better soon Kelly, you should not do this on a weekday lol.

Greg I hope you were able to work with those two around, I bet it was not easy.

Very nice poem Sweet Jane.

All is quiet for me tonight, I think Kelly learned her lesson and is starting to feel her old self again.

Cacky, Ivet said you two talked some and she was most impressed with you. You are both very good people and it is a pleasure to know women of your quality. I have been most fortunate in friends I have made here and you two are right up there. Jen is another one who is most patient and caring even though I must drive her crazy at times. No matter the circumstance, Ivet has always been charming and fun, I wish I had her outlook on life.

I tend to sense right away if I am going to hit it off with someone, even through chat and emails and occasional phone calls. People who turn me off are generally those who constantly talk about their own pets, or lives but never ask about the other persons. It gets pretty obvious when people ask the question they hope to be asked themselves. Then proceed to answer it for you regardless lol. Every now and then I am fooled by people but such is life. It does not take long to see the true person.

By the way, I really do not take many photos of my pets, nor do I advise friends to vote for any pictures of pets. That is their choice and I would not try to influence anyone. I think it is a little tacky to post a bunch of pictures of say Rusty or Skyler or Incubus and constantly ask people to look at them. They have their own pets and love them and think them the most lovely animals in the world I am sure so why pester them with my views on my own animals lol?  All puppies and kittens are cute just as most babies are cute I would think, hmm no wait there are some ugly babies around but one cannot say that to the parents. Ok now I have had maybe 8 hours sleep in four days so I apologize if I offended any pet's pictures just now. Has anyone ever seen pictures of the ugly dog contests contestants? Those are some seriously ugly dogs but they may have well been cute puppies.

Some Kipling

A man's mind is wont to tell him more than seven watchmen sitting in a tower.

A woman's guess is much more accurate than a man's certainty.

And the first rude sketch that the world had seen was joy to his mighty heart, till the Devil whispered behind the leaves "It's pretty, but is it Art?"

Borrow trouble for yourself, if that's your nature, but don't lend it to your neighbours.

(and my favorite, I have inscribed this quote on cedar plackards and left them in some gardens I designed. )

Gardens are not made by singing "Oh, how beautiful," and sitting in the shade.

(I oftentimes have the sunburn to prove that quote true.)

Greg, It's so cute when you babble on and on :). It would be so fun to watch you babble..i would sit there across from you, with my head leaning into my hands and stare at you with googly eyes..and then even bat my eye lashes from time to time with my lips puckered. LOL Have you seen the movie Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom? the female student is sitting in her chair staring at Indiana Jones..she bats her lashes and you can see the words " i love you " on her eyelids. LOL ..you're so cute Greg.

Yikes, now I have choices!  It would be difficult to not be touched by such a lovely sight. Now if we were in public, Ivet you would most assuredly win. Ok I am struggling to be fair here lol.

and now for a very appropriate poem by ee cummings

mr youse needn't be so spry
concernin questions arty

each has his tastes but as for i
i likes a certain party

gimme the he-man's solid bliss
for youse ideas i'll match youse

a pretty girl who naked is
is worth a million statues

The last line is the most relevant and one of my favorites by Cummings.

My choice would not be nearly so graphic lol. One of the sexiest things I have seen is Greg asleep on his shop floor wearing only boxer shorts. Incubus was stretched out asleep on his stomach while the two dogs rose up as if protecting Greg as he slept. He had such an innocent and peaceful look about him and looked so vulnerable with only his pets to protect him. Of course the dogs know me so they ran up wagging their tails but if I had been an intruder lol, one can only hope they would be protective. That face as he slept, wow.

Okay everyone....So it dawned on me today that I know everyone's real name and ya'll only know me as LabCab. So I'm going to sort of start over and introduce myself using my actual name. My real name is Marissa, but my family and friends call Halle like as in Halle Berry. Reason being is because everywhere I go people stop me and tell me that I look just like Halle Berry. I always say that could be a good thing or a bad thing.
Pink is one of my favorite artist. She is down to earth yet in your face when it comes to her lyrics. My favorite thing about her is that she doesn't care what people think about her. She's real and does not fall into the fakeness of all those Hollywood girls.
I live in a town called Paradise Valley. It's one of the upper class, richy parts of Arizona. All the girls and sadly enough the older women as well walk around like there crap does not stink. They are so superficial and stuck up. I always tell my husband that girls can be such B**ches. They act the same and look the same with their fake boobies and plastic surgery. I'm the type of person that if you don't like me for who I am then screw you. I will not go get plastic surgery just to fit into what "Hollywood" and the media says we should do to be in the in crowd. So with that said I leave you with my favorite Pink song which is also my ringtone on my phone.

Halle

Stupid girl, stupid girls, stupid girls
Maybe if I act like that, that guy will call me back
Porno Paparazzi girl, I don't wanna be a stupid girl

Go to Fred Segal, you'll find them there
Laughing loud so all the little people stare
Looking for a daddy to pay for the champagne
(Drop a name)
What happened to the dreams of a girl president
She's dancing in the video next to 50 Cent
They travel in packs of two or three
With their itsy bitsy doggies and their teeny-weeny tees
Where, oh where, have the smart people gone?
Oh where, oh where could they be?

Maybe if I act like that, that guy will call me back
Porno Paparazzi girl, I don't wanna be a stupid girl
Baby if I act like that, flipping my blond hair back
Push up my bra like that, I don't wanna be a stupid girl

(Break it down now)
Disease's growing, it's epidemic
I'm scared that there ain't a cure
The world believes it and I'm going crazy
I cannot take any more
I'm so glad that I'll never fit in
That will never be me
Outcasts and girls with ambition
That's what I wanna see
Disasters all around
World despaired
Their only concern
Will they **** up my hair

Maybe if I act like that, that guy will call me back
Porno Paparazzi girl, I don't wanna be a stupid girl
Baby if I act like that, flipping my blond hair back
Push up my bra like that, I don't wanna be a stupid girl

We were away for a day.

A quick note to admin. Labcab is having trouble editing her last post but she tried and will keep trying. She is new to the site and may not know how all the forum functions work. Joanne if you wish to correct that song a bit for her I am sure she would not mind otherwise I will try to help when I can.

Now on to important things. Halle your picture is kind of far away but you do seem to resemble Halle Berry. I am sure you and your husband make a lovely couple.

Jennifer I touched up my post a bit and you might want to do the same when you are on next. Since this post contains mostly female participants, lovely ones I might add, I will ask you all to behave with a little less friskiness in the  future so as not to offend new members who are not used to your obvious charms and "ways". Save said friskiness for long emails to me if you like but try to be a little more sedate in public if you can.

Ivet I believe your post is fine but some things can be a little subjective of course.

And now some quotes:

A thing is not necessarily true because badly uttered, nor false because spoken magnificently.

Charity is no substitute for justice withheld.

I want my friend to miss me as long as I miss him.

and my favorite,

O Lord, help me to be pure, but not yet.

St. Augustine

LOL ok now that is cute Greg! Next it will be St Teresa.

I want to thank Dan and Joanne for their help and understanding the last couple days. You are decent people with a great deal of patience. I do believe my posts lately are ok, (I am the good one!) The rest of you hooligans need to shape up! Maybe a Beatles song would be appropriate right now...

Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love.
There's nothing you can do that can't be done.
Nothing you can sing that can't be sung.
Nothing you can say but you can learn how to play the game
It's easy.
There's nothing you can make that can't be made.
No one you can save that can't be saved.
Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be in time
It's easy.
All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love.
All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
There's nothing you can know that isn't known.
Nothing you can see that isn't shown.
Nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be.
It's easy.
All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
All you need is love (all together now)
All you need is love (everybody)
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.

JJ I think you were accidently behaving lately lol.

This poem has no special meaning to me but I do like it, it is simple and yet direct.

by Princess Emmi

Sorry for the words
i didn't mean to say
sorry for the hurt
wish i could wipe it all away

and i know
there's never an excuse
for what i did
let my mouth run loose

is there a way
to make it up to you?
and let you know
i'll forever love you.....
