| Ivet you are truly a pleasure, so forthright and charming. A few quotes for you.. “It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important.” One from Dave Barry's Blog. The penalty for teasing your wife by chasing her with the tissue in which you've just squished a giant spider, shall be DEATH. Slow, painful death whilst being chatted to by your mother-in-law And one about a snake for JJ. Reminds me of an old cartoon--BC, maybe--in which a bird swoops down and picks up a snake, who screams, "Bird! Bird!" Then the snake starts winding himself around the bird's neck in flight, prompting the bird to scream, "Snake! Snake!" I was looking for a quote about a snake who bites someone who befriended him. The person was shocked but the snake says, "What did you expect, I am a snake". JJ beware of offering your hand to misanthropic snakes. Greg | | | |

| I get it Greg and I bet JJ does also another poem... It starts with a twinkle a gentle light that beckons in your eye a silent witness to thoughts that tempt and tease and hint at pleasure. A witty remark is coming, it revealed itself just then. Your mouth purses as if unsure if it can trust that twinkle it is wise to your ways it knows you far too well. A laugh bursts forth and the mouth gives a defeated sigh and smiles, cause it loves to be happy. Your face changes like a light switched on the whole of you revealed in a flash that makes watchers gasp and lean forward in their seats. The most amazing part of this is that I know that this outer you is but a small infinitesimal part that makes up the whole of you. If they only knew the inner sanctum the corridors that live inside your wondrous heart the glowing center of your core that keeps and holds that infinite spark that is you. You amaze me send me into spirals of awe at the sweetness that is the very essence of who you are. If they only but knew what I know. The women you know must be blind. Thank God. Maybe they are not blind but forgot their glasses or contacts. One more.... Under the cotton sheet Face hiding Beneath soft fabric shadow. Body contained Sleepless mind traveling Beneath soft fabric dreams. Under cotton sheet Soul finds refuge Beneath soft fabric shadow. Heart in restraints Set free in dreams Beneath soft fabric window. Under cotton sheet Lost soul found love Beneath soft fabric memories. Tamed Heart awake Waiting for the morning Beneath soft fabric dawn. Kelly | | | |

| Thank you Ivet, it is great to know there are nice people like you on the site.I love your additions to the post. Reminds me of an old cartoon--BC, maybe--in which a bird swoops down and picks up a snake, who screams, "Bird! Bird!" Then the snake starts winding himself around the bird's neck in flight, prompting the bird to scream, "Snake! Snake!" LOL Greg very cool, thanks for the advice on snakes. Sooner or later they slither back under the rocks and hide I am sure. They are probably more afraid of us than we are of them anyway. Great poetry again Kelly, you are really getting into the romantic genre for some reason. A very pretty Tom Waits song: Well I'm sitting on a windowsill, blowing my horn
Nobody's up except the moon and me,
And a lazy old tomcat on a midnight spree
All that you left me was a melody.
Rosie, why do you evade? Rosie, how can I persuade? Rosie...
And the moon's all up, full and big, apricot tips in an indigo sky,
And I've been loving you, Rosie, since the day I was born
And I'll love you, Rosie 'til the day I die.
Rosie, why do you evade? Rosie, how can I persuade? Rosie...
Rosie, why do you evade? Rosie, how can I persuade? Rosie...
And I'm sitting on a windowsill, blowing my horn
Nobody's up except the moon and me,
And a lazy old tomcat on a midnight spree
All that you left me was a melody.
Rosie, why do you evade? Rosie, how can I persuade? Rosie... JJ

| It's raining it's pouring
And you didn't bring a sweater
Nebraska will never let you come back home
And on hollywood and vine
By the thrifty mart sign
Any night i'll be willin to bet
There's a young girl
With sweet little wishes
And pretty blue dreams
Standin there and gettin all wet
Now there's a place off the drag
Called the gilbert hotel
There's a couple letters burned out in the sign
And it's better than a bus stop
And they do good buisness
Every time it rains
For sweet little girls
With nothing in their jeans
But sweet little wishes
And pretty blue dreams
Now it's raining it's pouring
The old mam is snoring
Now i lay me down to sleep
I hear the sirens in the street
All the dreams are made of chrome
I have no way to get back home
I'd rather die before i wake
Like marilyn monroe
And throw my jeans out in
The street and the rain will make 'em grow
Now the night clerk he got a club foot
And he's heard every hard luck story
At least a hundred times or more
He says check out time is 10 am
And that's just what he means
And you go up the stairs
With sweet little wishes
And pretty blue dreams
Now it's raining it's pouring
And hollywods just fine
Swindle a little out of her dreams
Put a letter in the sign
Never trust a scarecrow
Wearin' shades after dark
Be careful of that old bow tie he wears
It takes a sweet little bullet
From a pretty blue gun
To put those scarlet ribbons in your hair
No that ain't no cherry bomb
4th of july's all done
Just some fool playin' that second line
From the barrel of a pretty blue gun
No that ain't no cherry bomb
4th of july's all done
Just some fool playin' that second line
From the barrel of a pretty blue gun and..... Well I got a bad liver and a broken heart
Yea I drunk me a river since you tore me apart
And I don't have a drinking problem
Cept when I can't get a drink
And I wish you'd a known her
We were quite a pair
She was sharp as a razor
And soft as a prayer
So welcome to the continuing saga
She was my better half
And I was just a dog
And so here am I slumped
I been chippied I been chumped
On my stool
So buy this fool, some spirits and libations
It's these railroad station bars
With all these conductors and the porters
And I'm all out of quarters
And this epitaph is the aftermath
Yea I choose my path
Hey come on Cath, he's a lawyer,
He ain't the one for ya
And no the moon ain't romantic
It's intimidating as hell
And some guy's trying to sell
Me a watch
And so I'll meet you at the
Bottom of a bottle of
Bargain Scotch
I got me a bottle and a dream
It's so maudlin it seems
You can name your poison
Go on ahead and make some noise
I ain't sentimental
This ain't a purchase it's a rental
And it's purgatory, hey
What's your story, well
I don't even care
Cause I got my own double-cross to bear
And I'll see your Red Label
And I'll raise you one more
And you can pour me a cab,
I just can't drink no more
Cause it don't douse the flames
That are started by dames
It ain't like asbestos
It don't do nothing but
Rest us assured
And substantiate the rumors
That you've heard. A couple Tom Waits songs. We are listening to him as we work but it is time for a break. JJ is lending her talents to our sculpture, I do not know all the techniques but hope to learn more and more as we go along. There are a couple people on AA who draw or paint who know the complexity of the human hand. Katie and Carolyn are aware. Most anyone can draw the sweeping curve of a hip or leg or arm. It is not that hard to visualize drawing a human face but that is one dimensional, try it in three dimensions sometime. I am not that skilled but I do respect those like JJ who possess such talent. I love the line: She was sharp as a razor and soft as a prayer. Some songs are like that for me, you wait for the one line you love above all others. It is like watching an old favorite movie, and you are anxious to see the one thing that you remember most, that you love the most. I have a feeling most people think that way.. The Godfather is about to come on and you know the scene with the horses head, or Don Corleone clowning with his grandson in the garden, making faces with an orange or lemon peel for teeth before he dies. That movie is full of such scenes that are hard to forget. I am that way with literature too, to enjoy something is to drink deeply of it and to store away some remembrance. One last Tom Waits song.. Operator, number, please: it's been so many years Will she remember my old voice while I fight the tears? Hello, hello there, is this Martha? this is old Tom Frost, And I am calling long distance, don't worry 'bout the cost. 'Cause it's been forty years or more, now Martha please recall, Meet me out for coffee, where we'll talk about it all.
And those were the days of roses, poetry and prose And Martha all I had was you and all you had was me. There was no tomorrows, we'd packed away our sorrows And we saved them for a rainy day.
And I feel so much older now, and you're much older too, How's your husband? and how's the kids? you know that I got married too? Luck that you found someone to make you feel secure, 'Cause we were all so young and foolish, now we are mature.
And those were the days of roses, poetry and prose And Martha all I had was you and all you had was me. There was no tomorrows, we'd packed away our sorrows And we saved them for a rainy day.
And I was always so impulsive, I guess that I still am, And all that really mattered then was that I was a man. I guess that our being together was never meant to be. And Martha, Martha, I love you can't you see?
And those were the days of roses, poetry and prose And Martha all I had was you and all you had was me. There was no tomorrows, we'd packed away our sorrows And we saved them for a rainy day.
And I remember quiet evenings trembling close to you... the last line, Wow Greg

| And I remember quiet evenings trembling close to you...
Greg that is a very pretty song, I love that last line also. We had such a perfect evening last night having dinner and sipping wine under the stars. It is great to have friends you can talk about most anything with and who share some of the same joys in life. We took turns dancing with Greg and a couple other friends on the rooftop listening to a cd someone had made with songs like this..
It's late at night and we're all alone
With just the music on the radio
No one's coming, no one's gonna telephone
Just me and you and the lights down low
And we're
Slow dancing, swaying to the music
Slow dancing, just me and my girl
Slow dancing, swaying to the music
No one else in the whole wide world
Just you, girl
And we just flow together when the lights are low
And shadows dancing across the wall
The music's playing so soft and slow
And the rest of the world so far away and small
And we're
Slow dancing, swaying to the music
Slow dancing, just me and my girl
Slow dancing, swaying to the music
No one else in the whole wide world
Just you, girl
Hold me, hold me
Don't ever let me go
As we dance together in the dark
There's so much love in this heart of mine
You whisper to me and I hold you tight
You're the one I thought I'd never find
Slow dancing, swaying to the music
Slow dancing, just me and my girl
Slow dancing, swaying to the music
No one else in the whole wide world
Just you, girl
...................... It was a rainy night when he came into sight
Standing by the road, no umbrella, no coat
So I pulled up along side and I offered him a ride
He accepted with a smile so we drove for a while
I didn't ask him his name, this lonely boy in the rain
Fate tell me it's right, is this love at first sight
Please don't make it wrong, just stay for the night
All I wanna do is make love to you
Say you will you want me too
All I wanna do is make love to you
I've got lovin' arms to hold on to
So we found this hotel, it was a place I knew well
We made magic that night. Oh, he did everything right
He brought the woman out of me, so many times, easily
And in the morning when he woke all I left him was a note
I told him I am the flower you are the seed
We walked in the garden we planted a tree
Don't try to find me, please don't you dare
Just live in my memory, you'll always be there
All I wanna do is make love to you
One night of love was all we knew
We made love
Love like strangers
All night long
We made love
Then it happened one day, we came round the same way
You can imagine his surprise when he saw his own eyes
I said please, please understand
I'm in love with another man
And what he couldn't give me
Was the one little thing that you can
One night of love was all we knew ........................ I can hear her heartbeat
From a thousand miles.
And the heavens open up
Every time she smiles.
And when I come to her,
That is where I belong.
And I'm running through her
Like a river song.
She gives me love, love, love, love,
Crazy love.
She gives me love, love, love, love,
Crazy love... Greg always insists on some Van Morrison and I have grown to love the sounds. I could do without Brown Eyed Girl right then lol but some of the other songs are so pretty. This one was appropriate.. Well it's a marvelous night for a moondance
With the stars up above in your eyes
A fantabulous night to make romance
'Neath the cover of October skies
And all the leaves on the trees are falling
To the sound of the breezes that blow
And I'm trying to please to the calling
Of your heart-strings that play soft and low
You know the night's magic
Seems to whisper and hush
And all the soft moonlight
Seems to shine in your blush...
Can I just have one a' more moondance with you, my love?
Can I just make some more romance with a' you, my love?
Well I wanna make love to you tonight
I can't wait till the morning has come
And I know now the time is just right
And straight into my arms you will run
And when you come my heart will be waiting
To make sure that you're never alone
There and then all my dreams will come true dear
There and then I will make you my own
And every time I touch you, you just tremble inside
And I know how much you want me that, you can't hide...
Can I just have one a' more moondance with you, my love?
Can I just make some more romance with a' you, my love?
Well it's a marvelous night for a moondance
With the stars up above in your eyes
A fantabulous night to make romance
'Neath the cover of October skies
And all the leaves on the trees are falling
To the sound of the breezes that blow
And I'm trying to please to the calling
Of your heart-strings that play soft and low
You know the night's magic
Seems to whisper and hush
And all the soft moonlight
Seems to shine in your blush...
One more moondance with you
In the moonlight
On a magic night
la, la, la, la, there's a moonlight
On a magic night
Can't I just have one more dance
With you my love? Greg thanks for a wonderful evening and one I will remember. Kelly

| Kelly the pleasure was mine. Thanks for picking up lunch and dinner yesterday, you are the best.
Hey just because you do not have brown eyes lol, it is still a great song!!!!
JJ thanks for your help hon, and now a special song for Kelly.
Hey where did we go,
Days when the rains came
Down in the hollow,
Playin' a new game,
Laughing and a running hey, hey
Skipping and a jumping
In the misty morning fog with
Our hearts a thumpin' and you
My brown eyed girl,
You my brown eyed girl.
Whatever happened
To Tuesday and so slow
Going down the old mine
With a transistor radio
Standing in the sunlight laughing,
Hiding behind a rainbow's wall,
Slipping and sliding
All along the water fall, with you
My brown eyed girl,
You my brown eyed girl.
Do you remember when we used to sing,
Sha la la la la la la la la la la te da
So hard to find my way,
Now that I'm all on my own.
I saw you just the other day,
My how you have grown,
Cast my memory back there, Lord
Sometime I'm overcome thinking 'bout
Making love in the green grass
Behind the stadium with you
My brown eyed girl
You my brown eyed girl
Do you remember when we used to sing
Sha la la la la la la la la la la te da.
I love that song, maybe tinted contacts would work for you K. One for Jen, I found a Van Morrison version of this Bill Anderson song, great words. Bill Anderson)
When you found somebody new I thought I never would
Forget you for I thought then that I never could
But time has taken all my pain away
Until now I'm down to hurtin' once a day
Once a day, all day long
And once a night from dusk till dawn
The only time I wish that you weren't gone
Is once a day, every day, all day long
And I'm so glad I'm not like a friend that I knew one time
He lost the one he loved and then he slowly lost his mind
Sat around and cried his life away
Lucky me I'm only hurtin' once a day
Once a day, all day long
And once a night from dusk till dawn
The only time I wish that you weren't gone
Once a day, every day, all day long
Once a day, all day long
And once a night from dusk till dawn
The only time I wish that you weren't gone
Is once a day, every day, all day long
Once a day, every day, all day long
Once a day, every day, all day long

| I just finished reading "The Last Lecture" by Randy Pausch. His lecture was titled REALLY ACHEIVING YOUR CHILDHOOD DREAMS. At the end of the book he says this:
"It's not about how to achieve your dreams. It's about how to lead your life. If you lead your life the right way, the karma will take care of itself. The dreams will come to you."
A very powerful book!

| I do not know of the author Carolyn but it sounds interesting. It is a time for prayer, a close friend's church in Knoxville Tenn. had a gunman shoot several people earlier today. My friend is fine. One man died, six others hurt. It is a Unitarian church that accepts all people of all religions and beliefs. It is a sad day for humanity when such a place draws a gunman. | Greg, I read about the incident this morning. It's absolutely tragic. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say what a blessing that your friend is safe, but the heartbreak and horror of the situation is very sad. I'm sure we will only continue to learn more. My heart and prayers go out to your friend and the entire congregation.
Carolyn, what a timely post with the recent passing of Randy. He was an amazing man. If you have not heard anything about him you really should take the time to watch his last lecture,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji5_MqicxSo.
He passed away from cancer a few days ago and received national recognition for his "The Last Lecture" which someone taped while attending and then put it on YouTube. It's really worth your time.

| The story from Knoxville is hitting very close to home. I have met the person a couple times who attends that church and she relayed the information to us. No children were hurt luckily and hopefully no one else will perish. There was a time in this country when schools and churches were safe, sigh. Thanks for your kind words Jennifer, Greg is on the phone now trying to find out what he can. The man who was killed was highly respected and may well have stepped into the path of the gunman to protect others. Kelly | | | |

| Here is a good leanne rhymes song that i can relate to right now
Who died and crowned me everybody’s everything? I’m even busting my butt through the weekend By the time I get home there’s not an ounce of sanity Between the dogs, my momma’s calls Is it against the law for me to get what I need?
A good friend and a glass of wine Someone to say it’s gonna be alright A good friend and a glass of wine A little pick-me-up to get me through the night
We talk trash and we laugh and cry That kind of therapy money can’t buy Every now and then, every now and then Every girl needs a good friend and a glass of wine
I don’t need to jet off on a vacation for a week I’d be happy to have a happy hour When I’m tired and I’m fried, it gets me right back on my feet Yeah, any kind of red or white, a little sister time It’s every smart girl’s secret
A good friend and a glass of wine Someone to say it’s gonna be alright A good friend and a glass of wine A little pick-me-up to get me through the night
Talk trash and we laugh and cry The kind of therapy money can’t buy Every now and then, every now and then Every girl needs a good friend and a glass of wine
A good friend and a glass of wine Someone to say it’s gonna be alright A good friend and a glass of wine A little pick-me-up to get me through the night
We talk trash and we laugh and cry That kind of therapy money can’t buy Every now and then, every now and then Every girl needs Every now and then, every now and then Every girl needs a good friend and a glass of wine

| I carry your heart with me
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in my heart)i am never without it(anywhere i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done by only me is your doing,my darling) i fear no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true) and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows (here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide) and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

| Excellent choice Charlee!! You are a welcome addition to the post, if you were only older or me younger, sigh. Most of us here enjoy the works of Cummings and I have seen his words appear quite often. For those of you following the tragedy in Knoxville, two are now dead, more are wounded than I originally thought but a couple were released early. It is sounding more and more like a hate crime. My friend is all right but she was sobbing for an hour last night, it is hard to find the words to comfort someone in that situation. The shooting started as a children's performance began. Senseless. No person is ever truly alone.
Those who live no more,
Whom we loved,
Echo still within our thoughts,
Our words, our hearts.
And what they did
And who they were
Becomes a part of all that we are,
Forever. Ok something more cheerful, another ee cummings. i like my body when it is with your i like my body when it is with your body. It is so quite a new thing. Muscles better and nerves more. i like your body. i like what it does, i like its hows. i like to feel the spine of your body and its bones, and the trembling -firm-smooth ness and which i will again and again and again kiss, i like kissing this and that of you, i like,, slowly stroking the, shocking fuzz of your electric fur, and what-is-it comes over parting flesh . . . . And eyes big Love-crumbs,
and possibly i like the thrill
of under me you quite so new

| it is at moments after I have dreamed
it is at moments after i have dreamed of the rare entertainment of your eyes, when(being fool to fancy)i have deemed
with your peculiar mouth my heart made wise; at moments when the glassy darkness holds
the genuine apparition of your smile (it was through tears always)and silence moulds such strangeness as was mine a little while;
moments when my once more illustrious arms are filled with fascination, when my breast wears the intolerant brightness of your charms:
one pierced moment whiter than the rest
-turning from the tremendous lie of sleep i watch the roses of the day grow deep.

somewhere i have never travelled
somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond any experience, your eyes have their silence: in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me, or which i cannot touch because they are too near
your slightest look easily will unclose me though i have closed myself as fingers, you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens (touching skilfully, mysteriously) her first rose
or if your wish be to close me, i and my life will shut very beautifully, suddenly, as when the heart of this flower imagines the snow carefully everywhere descending;
nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals the power of your intense fragility: whose texture compels me with the colour of its countries, rendering death and forever with each breathing
(i do not know what it is about you that closes and opens; only something in me understands the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses) nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands
e. e. cummings
