| Bub is a large friendly boy, now I would have trouble calling him anything else. Come one Jen, you can think of something I am sure for a contest. I will help if you need it. Later I hope you are rooting for the Cubbies. It has been 100 years since their last world championship, the Red Sox did it, now it is the Cubs turn. I just ran into a friend from Chicago who does feline rescue, she and I were rooting for the cubbies as they lost last night. Maybe tonight will be better. This is a favorite Leonard Cohen song. Maybe I'm still hurting
I can't turn the other cheek
But you know that I still love you
It's just that I can't speak
I looked for you in everyone
And they called me on that too
I lived alone but I was only
Coming back to you
Ah they're shutting down the factory now
Just when all the bills are due
And the fields they're under lock and key
Tho' the rain and the sun come through
And springtime starts but then it stops
In the name of something new
And all the senses rise against this
Coming back to you
And they're handing down my sentence now
And I know what I must do
Another mile of silence while I'm
Coming back to you
There are many in your life
And many still to be
Since you are a shining light
There's many that you'll see
But I have to deal with envy
When you choose the precious few
Who've left their pride on the other side of
Coming back to you
Even in your arms I know
I'll never get it right
Even when you bend to give me
Comfort in the night
I've got to have your word on this
Or none of it is true
And all I've said was just instead of
Coming back to you I particularly love the line, "I've looked for you in everyone". Greg

| I love that song! Honied yellow dripping gold, Leaf of autumn in the cold Dancing on in crisp despair Whirling on enchanted air Falling silently to earthen tomb Away from tree's rooted arm Perhaps the silence broken then By hollow cries of autumn grief Synchronized with the falling leaf - S.K.Lindeman kelly | | | |

| I STOOD by the unvintageable sea
Till the wet waves drenched face and hair with spray,
The long red fires of the dying day
Burned in the west; the wind piped drearily;
And to the land the clamorous gulls did flee:
“Alas!” I cried, “my life is full of pain,
And who can garner fruit or golden grain,
From these waste fields which travail ceaselessly!”
My nets gaped wide with many a break and flaw
Nathless I threw them as my final cast
Into the sea, and waited for the end.
When lo! a sudden glory! and I saw
The argent splendour of white limbs ascend,
And in that joy forgot my tortured past. By Oscar Wilde JJ

| Hello Everyone!
Greg, I love that song so very much. Jen, I am sure you will think of a great contest. Once again Congratulations! JJ very nice post. Kelly, I loved that short autumn poem. I have decided to leave you all with a couple of more autumn poems as it is my favourite time of the year!
- -"Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.”
- - "A wind has blown the rain away and blown the sky away and all the leaves away, and the trees stand. I think, I too, have known autumn too long." E. E. Cummings
Have a great weekend everyone!

| Charlee those are wonderful choices, especially the Cummings. Greg I just now went back and looked at your song, the lines that hit me are these. There are many in your life
And many still to be
Since you are a shining light
There's many that you'll see
But I have to deal with envy

| I like Crowe and Buckleys versions JJ. My version would be more along the lines of the original. I may have to sing it soon and it will not be easy. There is another song I have to learn that sounds much better on a muted trumpet, it slow and sad and very Irish. Here is one version by the great Celtic singer Charlie Zahm. You will find it in movies and often played on bagpipe but the solo trumpet is most moving. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdA4NlJiikM&feature=related Here is a touching version of Hallelujah. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwShjNeJ-ig&feature=related Greg | | | |

| The people I hold most dear.
And wherever you may walk,
in darkness or in light.
I will be near you.
Maybe a whisper in the wind.
Or a warm caress from
the sun.
My spirit
will remain with you.
Long after ashes have turned to dust.
There is one more thing I must say.
My love will cover you tomorrow.
As it did yesterday.

but now we sleep in our dreams where our castle lies
let's watch the mountains burn this is where i want to lie
and let that sad sad song that always plays in your head finally die

| Jen I wish you the best, I hope you can email me sometime, there are probably things you should have known. I am not sure where I read this but I loved the lines. Love is a part of life, I know.
So is the pain and the sorrow,
along with the smiles, and the joys.
My life will be forever changed
because I loved you. Kelly

| Greg you are sweet and it is a tough time. Thank you for the link. How about a happier theme? Now this is the day you fall upon my waking eyes
Inviting and inciting me to rise
And through the window in the wall
Comes streaming in on sunlight wings
A million bright ambassadors of morning' Pink Floyd Echoes JJ

| You Have Loved Enough Leonard Cohen
I said I’d be your lover.
You laughed at what I said.
I lost my job forever.
I was counted with the dead.
I swept the marble chambers,
But you sent me down below.
You kept me from believing
Until you let me know:
That I am not the one who loves –
It’s love that seizes me.
When hatred with his package comes,
You forbid delivery.
And when the hunger for your touch
Rises from the hunger,
You whisper, "You have loved enough,
Now let me be the Lover."
I swept the marble chambers,
But you sent me down below.
You kept me from believing
Until you let me know:
That I am not the one who loves –
It’s love that chooses me.
When hatred with his package comes,
You forbid delivery.
And when the hunger for your touch
Rises from the hunger . . .

| Hello Everyone!
I thought this poem is so cute as I am still so close to my Grandmother and agree totally with this poem.
At Grandma's House
I like the taste of turkey Any time throughout the year But it never seems to taste as good As when Thanksgiving's here.
Could be it's all the trimmings That are cooked with it to eat- But I think it's eating at Grandma's house That makes it such a treat!
I hope everyone has a fabulous Thanksgiving! Tell you the truth I just realized that I think we have a different day for Thanksgiving. I think, I may be wrong. Lol. Anyways if your Thanksgiving is this weekend, Have a fun, relaxing Thanksgiving. Let me know what you all do --- or will be doing? I am actually going to my Grandmothers house for Thanksgiving. Lol. Take Care everyone! Talk soon. Charlee

| Charlee, you are always so sweet and I hope things are working out well for you. I will try to talk to you more in email when I can. Carolyn, it is not so much this last post, but you have always impressed me with your kindness and intelligence. I think part of it has to do with your vocation and being a single parent but you do have a gift that I rarely get to experience in many. A couple lyrics from an irish song... As for friends I've had many I ne're walked alone,
And a few were like family just as much as me own
They helped in times troubled and made happiness known.
And they gave me a young heart I've never outgrown, Well, the evening was leaving and the sun said goodbye.
I thought of me past and I smiled with a sigh.
Oh, I had no regrets nay a reason to cry.
So I drank me beer down 'till the glass all was dry. Greg
