Thanks to member Labdp for her contributions to our blog!
I have to ask.......at the end of the day, have you found your place?? That is what Sidney is learning to do. That's what we all must learn to do. Where do we settle when it's time to do just that. Where are we comfortable enough to lay down our weary, our worry, our sorrow, or joy, our hope.
Up until now, for rest, Sidney was put in his crate. As I type tonight, he's laying next to me in the office. He tried to join Kobe on the spare bed, but Prince Kobe didn't appreciate Sir Sidney joining him and growled him off. Sid came high tailing it into the living room like a fire breathing dragon was on his tail.
Now, he's resting by my side. I love the progress he's made in 9 days with us. He kennels up fairly easily (one must have cheese though), he goes in and out of the front door, doesn't startle as often, is learning how to maneuver on the zip line in the yard, has learned pottying in the house is not appropriate. He's met numerous family members and friends and does so eagerly and gently. A clap of the hand interrupts any unwanted behavior readily. He's come a long way.
Granted the temptation to chew things is there - rugs, paper back books, an arm on a chair, blankets (they are a favorite!!). I succumb to that temptation myself sometimes - though I favor crunchy salty foods instead of blankets.
You just have to love him. He fits in so well, what I can't teach him, the other pups will. I know he's only here temporary. He's finding his place in life at our house, then he'll find his forever home and reside in their heart.

Re: Finding Your Place
How heartwarming to hear that Sydney is finding his place. He's so fortunate to have found a foster mom that will help him find where he belongs. A big hug and an extra piece of cheese for Sydney.

Re: Finding Your Place
There are days I feel like Sid. Just trying to find my place. Then I look at my furry children and I realize that it is with them whereever they are. Romping in the tall grass, lying in the sunshine, curled up in the rocking chair. They ground me and keep me real. So when I feel a little lost like Sid - I'm lucky I don't have to look far to.
Hugs to Sid from Jake, Lucy, Jinks and Boo!
