If a dog had a "hemi", Sidney's would be in reverse. He is the king of backing up. Only trouble is when you back up without looking some rather startling things happen. For a guy who's prone to being skittish, backing up (and into things) adds to the mix.
You just have to laugh. In so many ways he is doing so well. In others he has so far to go. We put some cozy padding in his crate so he'd be comfortable during the day. I gave him a nice bone stuffed with cheese, french fries, and a bit of canned dog food. I froze that over night to make it more of a gnawing challenge. When I got home today the goodie was all left in his bone, and all the padding in his crate was shredded. Go figure. Mick enjoyed the bone while I was cleaning up the fabric shreds. Maybe nice padding in a crate was too much of a culture shock for him. Perks are a new thing for him.
And we tried working on the sit command too. Imagine a very stubborn hemi who refuses to move at all. Ain't no way his butt was gonna touch the floor. All in due time. We'll try again. Sit doesn't happen in a day. He's probably still dazed and confused at his good fortune and living circumstances.
Imagine his delight when he finds his forever home.

It sounds like it will take time, but with you working with Sydney, he is on his way to a lot happier life then he could imagine. We'd like to see them all be as happy as we hope for them.
