Stair Master? Sounds like exercise will be involved doesn't it? But actually, Sidney has become the stairmaster. His confidence is growing by leaps and bounds. Which is similar to how he does steps.
Truth is, yesterday he couldn't/wouldn't do steps. Last night as I was typing I could hear some whining in the hallway. I paused, wrinkles no doubt peppering my forehead, because the "upstairs" dogs don't whine. I went to the hallway and there was Sir Sidney. If he could talk he'd have said, Mom, how did I get up here, why are you hiding from me in that little room, and how the h*ll do I get back down that mountain? I could have told him you get down just like you get up. But he understands cheese talk better than human talk.
So we put cheese cubes every other step to the bottom. The hard part was keeping the resident dogs from scarfing up the cheese! Mickey was trying to get to them from the top of the stairs, Maddie was trying to snarf them from the bottom. You'd think they were all raised in Wisconsin.
Amazing what one (dog or human) can master when confidence and will power are working together. It may be really cheesy to say - but the stairs were cake, life is a cheese cube and Sidney says "I don't think we're in Kansas/Oklahoma anymore". Even dogs know famous movie lines.....and don't hesitate to use them. Especially if cheese is involved.

Re: The Stair Master
Isn't amazing how quickly dogs bond to us and trust us to 'lead the way' for them....especially if the way is sprinkled with cheese! :)

Re: The Stair Master
What a wonderful morning laugh to read your account of Sidney's stair adventure! :) I've become a believer that cheese is the miracle food. Thanks for sharing a smile and give Sidney (and all) and extra hug from us.
