Thanks to member Labdp for her contributions to our blog!
Good news, Sidney is settling in. By that I mean he's relaxing enough to get into mischief. Mischief includes, chewing a leash in half, trying to table surf, jumping up on me. He is also a master at separating a pill from whatever goodie you put it in and spitting it out. Tricky little guy he is.
He's also beginning to play with Mick. Now Mick has the home court advantage because Sid won't go near the stairs, or up on the couch. It's wonderful to see him run towards something to play, instead of backing away from something in fear. He back pedals well enough for it to be an olympic sport. Getting him in the kennel involves no physical placement anymore - with the right treat he sails right in.
Every new thing he does is a teachable moment. When we're done with him we'll probably have our Masters Degree. Or would that be our Dog-torate?
Like children, no two fosters are the same. Sid is becoming his own dog - and it is a delight to see it unfold. And in the process we are becoming more dog savvy.
Not sure who's educating whom, in this relationship, but it's all good. Sid is doing well. and well, we're pretty happy about that.

I doubt we're doing everything right, but we keep after it! We are certainly glad to be able to foster him.

It's really neat to see how an animal can improve with the right guidance....and so quickly too! That has got to be the best thing about fostering.
