| Jul 24 Written by:aajoanne Thursday, July 24, 2008 The time has come... Tuxedo weighed in last night at 18.5 pounds, so he's going on a diet! And, well, so am I....
Over the coming months, Tux and I will be participating in the Pet Fit Challenge in an effort to get us both in shape. Now, since our favorite combined activity is snuggling and watching movies (hence the need to diet...), this is going to be quite an undertaking! Tuxy's ideal weight is 16.5 so he's got just a few pounds to lose - I'll refrain from sharing my goal! Stay tuned! Learn More >> Tags: 11 comments so far...
Re: Pet Fit Challenge
He is a beautiful boy. Even roly-poly. ha-ha. You could race each other around the yard or thru' the house. That would do it.

Re: Pet Fit Challenge
Perhaps I could send my overweight beagle mix to visit you for a few weeks. She could chase Tux around the house with you running after. In a short time everyone will be fit and pounds lighter (LOL I am joking about sending my pooch but I suppose you could borrow a neighbor's dog if you for some reason think this is a good idea!)

Re: Pet Fit Challenge
I have to check out the Pet Fit Challenge! I weighed my cat recently and he was 18.4 pounds, just about the same as Tuxedo. He's a big tom cat, but that's still way too heavy.
And this is after I've been trying to get him to lose weight for months! And he actually gained weight! Then I discovered he was going into a back closet of the laundry room where the extra bad of food was and eating from a hole he'd ripped open in the side. It's so frustrating. I finally cut back his food more and he's really mad about it, poor baby. He's totally food obsessed. I'm trying to exercise him by having his chase a laser pointer light up and down the stairs. But it's a lot of work just to get him up and down those stairs a few times. I hope it goes well for Tuxedo! - Toofy's Mom

Re: Pet Fit Challenge
I have 3 cats and 1 dog. One of my cats is really overweight, I figure about the same as your Tux. I have a difficult time getting my "Pounce" to lose weight because I have two other cats that also have to eat. Even though they have their own bowls, Pounce will help herself to Frisco & Karat's food. I work all day, so I need to leave dry food for them. If I don't leave food out because of Pounce, then Frisco & Karat will go hungry and they don't need to lose weight. Any suggestions would certainly be welcomed.
Good luck on the PetFit Challenge!

Re: Pet Fit Challenge
I had a cat, MR. C (and he was addressed as MR. for a reason!!) He weighed in at 22 lbs, and he used every ounce of it to rule the house and the world. He was a big guy and pretty solid. I think I would have paid dearly had I taken any of his food away! lol Good luck to reaching the goals!

Re: Pet Fit Challenge
I have the same problem with my sweet boy Oscar. He weighs about 22 or 23 pounds. I have tried to limit his food, but I have 3 other cats and like the above writer stated about her cat,Oscar helps himself to everyone elses food.I have even caught him in the dog's dish a time or two. Oscar too,is totally obsessed with eating. He is very healthy besides that, but I just don't know what to do. The other cats are actually kinda small (no doubt as to why) ,so I leave out their dry food so they can get something to eat. Please help!!! I am worried about all of them.
