A big 'woof' of congratulations for Colorado Springs for its nomination as America's most dog-friendly city according, to Dog Fancy Magazine.
"Some cities clearly roll out the red carpet for dogs and their owners," says Susan Chaney, editor of Dog Fancy. "Each year, it's gratifying to read about so many organizations and individuals who work toward making their cities welcoming to dogs. We're very pleased to honor Colorado Springs this year, and congratulate it for avoiding legislation like that adopted by Denver which bans pit-bull-type dogs."

Re: Colorado Springs is Tops!
Colorado is a great state, used to live in Colorado Springs, wish I still did or in some part of Colorado. Beautiful country, Congrats on being #1.

I wish Longmont, CO would follow suit. It is about as dog un-friendly as you can get!

Re: Colorado Springs is Tops!
I also lived in the Springs for many years(in fact I am a native Coloradoan)so congratulations to the Springs for outdoing that snobby city to the north(Denver). It is nice to see that not all cities are afraid of dogs and/or what they might or might not do because of their breed. I always thought the Springs was some what of a forward thinking city(despite being a military town). Keep up the good work.

Re: Colorado Springs is Tops!
I live in the south Denver metro. Congratulations to Colorado Springs! I thought our area was pro-dog with all the dog parks and walking paths available, but then realized how many dog breeds are banned or have restrictions in our county. Dogs have been destroyed or removed from their loving homes because of current legislation, which only brings a false sense of security to people who know little or nothing about animal behavior. This needs to be changed! City of Denver - Arapahoe County - are you listening?
