Thanks to member Labdp for her contributions to our blog!

Therapy DogsI may be bragging, but I have to share that Mick was filmed and interviewed today for the work he does at Methodist Hospital as a member of Paws For Friendship. The taping was for an in house video that details what pet therapy visits are all about. We had several of our dogs there during taping, Mickey, Hunter and Jack, golden retrievers, Henry, a boston terrier mix, and Shelby a pit bull. All sizes of dogs, all with wonderful temperaments.

Mick is the seasoned veteran of the group that visits on Tuesdays. For a guy who answers to Dufus Boy at home, he pulls it all together for the hospital visits. Patients and staff comment on how dignified, how serious he is. Frankly, I'm amazed too. He must know helping the healing process is serious work he's doing.

After group filming as we visited the patients, Mick was asked for a private interview. Mick was interviewed, not me. I always say the dogs hold the magic, I simply hold the leash. Now we have proof. We retreated to a private office for quiet discussion between Mick and the interviewer. Mickey was as unflappable as always. He was questioned at length about his work with the patients, his soulful knowing eyes, his patience and decorum. I think I can safely say he won't be misquoted in any way. A couple times he left the interviewers side and came to me, I think he was asking if his publicist knew about this interview and when the treats would be served. I sent him back and he willing concluded the interview with the pup-arazzi.

I'm glad he's not a blabbermouth. If he was, people would find out that he is really a normal dog, prone to mischief. There are a number of holes in pockets and blankets to prove just this.

But as a therapy dog, he showed what a trooper, a gentle soul, a soft place to rest your worries, a healing touch he is.

You did good Mick!

Re: Mickey Is A Celebrity

How beautiful your Mickey is and what wonderful work he does. He deserves all the kudos, accolades and pupperoni from the pupperazzi AND you.

Bless you both for your dedication! Sounds like you're one stage mom I'd get along with!
