Science Daily reports that the first veterinary corneal implant in North America was performed recently on a very lucky seven-year-old dog named Dixie from Iowa.

Dixie's sight had been fading and as a result her activity level decreased, causing her to gain some unwanted pounds. Since the operation she's slimmed down, become more active and her vision is continually improving thanks to her new plastic cornea. What an amazing invention!
