Thanks to member Labdp for her contributions to our blog!
Make way, coming through, yield please.
I was driving through a busy part of town yesterday morning. Four lanes, heavily used, commercial and residential traffic going about their business. Out into traffic, and not at a crossing area mind you, comes a Momma Duck and 5 ducklings. She boldly crossed with her babies close on her heels, bringing traffic to a halt. You have to love moments like that. Nature and nurture took center stage on Center Street. In that moment we dropped all worries of the day. Hearts softened and Momma and babies safety was all that mattered. Once they were safely across life went on.
Later in the day I took my senior pointer to the vet for some tests. We tease about Kobe being as old as dirt. When people ask his age I would say he's about 10. But I've been saying that for at least four years now. Truthfully I don't know he real age and he's not telling. But age is catching up with this prince of a dog and his health is showing it.
Once again nature and nurture brought me to a halt as I was in the moment with Kobe. For the duck and ducklings the awe was for new life. For Prince Kobe the awe, the make way, the coming through was for an old boy whose scars, and gimpy gate tell so much and so little at the same time.
I can truly say quality of life is the matter at hand. For the Momma and babies, for Kobe, for you and I. Mine was enhanced by yesterday's experiences. Thank God for our animals and those who cross our path during the day.

Re: Coming Through
I agree!! what a brave momma duck. I am so sorry Kobe's health is failing. I will always remember when my Toy Poodle 14 yrs of age died, what my Mother said to me. "Remember the good times and the Joy and love he gave us through out those years. I now have an adorable Ferret and Guinea Pig names are Molly (guinea pig). Little Bit (ferret). StayWell; Best Wishes!.........Babyandme
