Thanks to member Labdp for her contributions to our blog!
Remember being little and the wonder of being able to do a cartwheel? Hands down, feet up in the air and wowsa, over you go. Sometimes with a fair amount of grace, sometimes without.
Pete did a cartwheel today - not your normal dog activity, certainly not an event you'd see in agility. Frankly, he didn't even see it coming. Shall we say he was as stunned by it as we were. Where is that camera when you need it?
He was on the zip-line, because as a foster we have not trained him on the invisible fence. He is a happy camper out in the yard zipping every which way lookatmego, lookatmego, lookatmego!!!
Now I had hung his leash from the zip line. It seemed like the thing to do at the time, convenient, handy, ready for when I would need it next. Ok, so I didn't have the foresight to predict what would happen if the zip line met the leash connection. Leave it to Pete to test the theory. I was boasting on how good he was at the come command. I had my daughter go to the other end of the line and call him to her. Off he went like the wind!!! Until the roller on the line hit the leash. That was when Pete did his half in-half out side twisting half pike cartwheel. His landing would have scored a 10. His expression would have scored a 10. Our expression would have scored, you guessed it, a 10!
How do you apologize enough for accidently setting up a situation like that? Poor pup didn't know what happened! But man does he have talent!! And, of course I'm thanking my lucky stars his brief gymnastic career caused no injury.
So sorry Pete, but, could you do that one more time for the camera? It just could be our claim to fame.
