| May 4 Written by:aajoanne Sunday, May 04, 2008 It's been a while since Pete joined the family. Almost three months. If I asked the other dogs what their consensus of his stay has been here this is what they would say.
Kobe would stay he's still a wet behind the ears, pain in the patoot kinda boy. To which Pete would say, Kobe is as old as dirt and never did know how play. What does that grumbly old cuss know anyway.
Maddie would still say (and does regularly) I can rip your whiskers off in a heart beat you silly juvenile delinquent. To which Pete would say - hey Maddie, let's play, canweplay, Iwannaplay. Wow! I didn't need those whiskers anyway, wannaplay?
Mick would no doubt insist Pete is a blood brother, a sleep in the sun butt-to-butt brother. Mick probably whispered in Pete's ear to grab the infamous Victoria's Secret bra and run with it. He also told him about socks too, and the shoe box in the closet. Pete would likely ask Mick what they'd be doing for fun next.
If Pete could name the top 10 things about being here they would be.
10. warm blankets 9. shelter from the wind, snow, rain 8. gentle hands to pet him 7. kongs stuffed with treats 6. his foster Dad 5. the poop whisperer aka his Foster Mom 4. sleeping in the sun on the bed 3. belonging to a pack 2. being a step closer to his forever home 1. liver treats, OMG, liver treats
If only they could talk and tell us their perspective on things. If only we knew the reality of their lives before they were rescued.
On second thought, all we really need to know is how far they have come, and how well loved they are now.

Re: Dog Talk
I miss my dog terribly but know how they always were. My cats are that way now - one grumbing and aloof (except when she thinks no one is watching; one not terribly bright to wrestle with; and the instigator! What a hoot he is! And what a trouble-maker. All saved from going to the 'shelter'. All now in their forever home. But I sure do miss my dog. Thanks for a wonderful read.

Re: Dog Talk
wonderfully entertaining, and probably really close to the truth. I laughed out loud about the Liver treats. I havent had a dog in two years, still in mourning, but everyone around me is getting puppies, I think after reading your blog, I may go down to the shelter tomorrow and see if there is a dog there who wants to adopts me!

Re: Dog Talk
I would dearly love to have more than one dog, but with things being the way they are right now, that's just not a possibility for me. I live in a fairly big city, a metro area of over 1.25 million people, although we are positively BLESSED with tons of greenspace, publicly-owned and largely untouched shorelines along the many rivers and lakes and such, plus we;re doubly blessed to live in a very dog-friendly neighbourhood with not one but TWO off-leash dog parks! Still, because of my disability, and the fairly small size of my apartment, more than one dog would be much too much work for me at this time.
My family is trying to put together a small pre-fab house on a wooded lot somewhere in rural Southern Ontario for me, and if that works out then I'll certainly be visiting the local shelters to bring home at least one more dog, and maybe even two. Having my own home situated on a large, fenced-in wooded lot would make all the difference in the world; then I could have a whole PACK of great big over-grown sucky-babies, instead of just the one, and that would be truly wonderful!
Until such time as this deal goes through, I'm lucky just to have my one very silly boy, Tas, and especially to have his brother Dash living close enough that we can get together often for play sessions, when they happily romp and play and beat the living daylights out of eachother! I can't help but think just how joyous and fulfilling having a few such very silly canine friends and companions around me fill-time would be, so until such time as I can have my own pack, I take every opportunities to enjoy stories of other multi-dog families...living vicariously through others' adventures, you might say.
Thanks for sharing your pack with us, and I wish you many bright blessings, and all the great happiness and joy that must come from living with and loving such a warm, wonderful and loving family. Keep up the great work, and thanks for all the wonderful rescue work you do, too!
