Texas mayor in doo-doo over Shih Tzu Woman forced to quit for keeping neighbor’s dog, but insists it was a rescue It’s one thing to give up the throne of England for the love of a woman, but to give up the mayor’s office for a scruffy dog named Puddles? This is a story that you can file under “Only in Texas.” And the woman at the center of this dog fight insists she would do it again. “Being the animal lover that I am, I think it’s worth it,” Grace Saenz-Lopez told TODAY co-host Meredith Vieira on Thursday from Alice, Texas, where until early this month she had been mayor. I understand both sides of the story............ I raise and breed shih tzus............ They are a most wonder full animal........... I also do shih tzu rescues and placments. My last rescue cost me 200 to get the poor little thing out of there....... Now she sleeps at my wifes head, We named here babe, because that is what she is............... I have sympathy for both of them,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Re: The Great Shih Tzu Scandal
GOOD FOR THE MAYOR! We are talking about a living creature not an object. I have been a profesional dog groomer for 30 plus years. In this day and age there is no reason to let your pet suffer with fleas. Flea contol no longer needs to involve deadly spray on products. There are several safer and more reliable products on the market. If you are going to have pets educate yourself and be prepared to open that pocket book. If you can't or won't do that don't have a pet!

Re: The Great Shih Tzu Scandal
I really think the Mayor went about this the wrong way. I don't believe she quit her job for the dog, she quit because she was caught lying about the dog and stealing it. If the dog was truly mistreated, there were proper steps to rescue it. In her position she would have the right contact to do so. It's just my belief, but I think she just wanted the dog and acted without thinking. I think it was probably a good thing she resigned a Mayor. Lying, stealing, impersonating her twin sister? I just hope the dog is safe and loved and where she should be.
